Taking a look back at 2016

Prybylski comes to Gilbane with 30 years of construction experience, including 25 years focused on interiors and renovations in New York City. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and operations director. During the course of his career, Prybylski has worked on a tremendous range of projects, including CNBC Headquarters, GM Building Plaza, and retail build outs for Barneys, Brooks Brothers, and Hermes of Paris. He is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University with a degree in Construction Engineering. Jay Prybylski - Sr. Project ExecutiveWe have an incredible team in the Southeast and in 2016, I’m excited to share we added 14 new faces, from rookie engineers to 30+ year veterans, and promoted 15 others in recognition of their hard work.

I’m very proud of each and every one of my team members here and you can’t imagine the pride I feel when one of our clients shares their sentiments with me. This past year I heard so many compliments about our team. Here are just a couple of examples:

  • “I have a very limited group that I would consider top level out of the number of people I have worked with over the years. The team on this project is part of the limited group.”
  • “[They] have all been great to work with, and I would be excited to work with them on future projects.”

Interesting side effect to having a safe job site

Safety is our most important value—everyday on every project—neither schedule nor budget issues will ever eclipse the safety of anyone on our job sites. Embracing this belief has made us the safest contractor in the southeast having had no lost-time incidents in the past three years and out of more than 815,000 man-hours we only had two recordable incidents in 2016. And there’s an interesting side effect to having a safe job site: quality and productivity go up. When people feel truly cared for, they feel a responsibility to care for those working around them and they feel a greater passion for their work resulting in higher quality craftsmanship and outstanding client satisfaction. I’m proud to say the Southeast division ended 2016 with a client satisfaction score of 8.39 out of 10.

Southeast Serves

A big part of Gilbane’s culture is giving back to the communities in which we live and work, and in 2016 we volunteered and donated nearly 10% of our profits to various organizations. To assist our team members in finding enriching volunteer opportunities to participate in we created a committee named #SoutheastServes.

I would like to thank all of you for a successful year. Thank you to our team members, architects, engineers, trade contractors, community organizers and owners and everyone else in between who made us look good this past year! I look forward to a very successful and rewarding 2017. Please take a moment to look at just some of the highlights and accomplishments of our year.

Sincerely,

Michael Brown
