A legacy of service at Danbury Hospital

Gilbane has enjoyed a longstanding partnership with Danbury Hospital. Since 2011, we've completed numerous building projects on campus, including construction of the 316,000-SF Buck Pavilion and a series of ongoing renovations and upgrades to existing service areas.

The team at Danbury Hospital has entrusted us to keep their facility operational and safe during numerous construction phases and we value our length of service with this amazing institution.

Phase II Operating Room Renovation

Building in an Operational Hospital

Currently, our team is managing the renovation to the operating area while the hospital remains fully operational. The functions of the hospital and the safety of the patients and visitors - especially during the pandemic - always take priority over construction activities.

Our approach, dynamic in nature, is continually monitored and refined to mitigate impacts on surrounding areas of the hospital and ensure infection control standards are met. Our team is forward-looking, flexible and proactive in our communications with administrators and clinicians.  The extraordinary focus and commitment by our disciplined team at Danbury Hospital provides their administrative leadership with added comfort and trust during the reconstruction of a highly sensitive area in their hospital.

Continuous Communication

Through frequent meetings with hospital staff, our team provides construction updates with visual representations of building system installations. These virtual walk-throughs outline future locations of in-wall and above-ceiling utilities, providing hospital stakeholders and staff an understanding of their future space, as well as an opportunity to provide input for improvement so the space will meet their needs completely.

Interim Life Safety Measures and Infection Control

Working with Danbury Hospital's infection control team, Gilbane adds value during the preconstruction and planning stages by continuously evaluating and communicating the potential impact of construction activity on hospital operations and exploring sequencing options from a constructability perspective. Our team approach is based on transparency and the consultation of all stakeholders, including infection control professionals, the clinical healthcare staff, hospital project management, architects, engineers, and subcontractors. During construction, Gilbane’s project team is responsible for implementation of all infection control measures and for overseeing trade contractor compliance with these precautions.

Our Infection Control Program is continuously updated by guidance set forth by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Facilities Guidelines Institute (FGI) for Design & Construction of Hospital & Healthcare Facilities.

This program is based upon the following principles:

  • Protect the patients, staff, and visitors in/around the project site
  • Manage and mitigate the impacts of construction on the facility
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Proactively mitigate risk
  • Incorporate best practices

.

Complete Budgets and Accurate Cost Projections

Gilbane’s proven budgeting and cost management services ensure that capital allocations are accurate and complete while construction costs are proactively controlled.

This allows the hospital system's investments to be used where they should be - for the efficient delivery of excellent, innovative, and compassionate care.
